I started talk sessions with Atia 3 years ago when I resettled in London with my family from the refugee camps in Egypt, an initiative taken by Atia’s charity, North London Welcome. Over the years, I continued to seek support from Atia off and on as and when I needed it. The task of rebuilding a life from nothing after leaving war torn Syria seemed monumental at first but Atia helped me see that it wasn't going to happen overnight. I appreciate the emotional and practical support she gave, such as putting me in touch with organisations and people who proved to be key in helping me rebuild my life emotionally as well as professionally. Atia understands my faith and spiritual side which makes it easier to talk to her. She helped me to realise that I have tools within myself and my own religion which I can use to help me through difficult times.
